Gaps between [Formed on a Friday, sent on a Sunday!] Almost exactly a year ago, I wrote a proposal, below, for the book that I’ve been trying to arrange in my mind for more than twenty years. Once done, it felt possible to begin shaping that book onto page. I’ve given it a working title:

As a teacher of photography one of the most moving portrait projects I ever saw, was a student who photographed his father’s house shortly after his death. The last used tea cup on the side, a dent still in the pillow, the choc ice wrapper (his father had one every day) knotted and placed in the well worn elbow dent of the arm chair … traces and those in-between spaces.
