I like this too, Matt. And I like it because you also set me thinking of how hearing a past tune triggers so many memories and heart beats. You speak to all of us, even though most of the songs you mentioned were not in my music vocabulary, as I grew up at a different time and continent.

Belated thanks, Piroska. I love the difference that music allows between us and how strong and seductive a bridge some of those differences can become.

I like this Matt. I can tell that I like it because you’ve set me thinking. Thinking back to 1985, I had just started working and ended up with a group of guys I hardly knew. They were playing football, I wasn’t because I don’t like it, however, one of them had a ghetto blaster, I pressed play and the cassette gave us Three Little Birds by Bob Marley. I had never heard it before, but ever since, when I sometimes don’t feel quite right, I know, that every little thing, is gonna be alright.

So late to see your comment here, Andrew. My apologies. But what a lovely memory to add. x

Lovely words, as ever. Funnily enough, a few days ago I found the CD I made for everyone from a list of songs that 20 or so of us gathered for new year 1999>2000 put together from our 3 favourite tracks, and it remains a precious thing, even if the tracks might've changed in the years since. A great thing to do

These things don't quite hold together as compilation albums, do they, but as an insight into those gathered around the table it was really rather lovely. (It took most of us all of our mental energies to figure out how to add songs to a shared playlist, but that's another and far less interesting story.)
